PROFESSIONAL AND AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIPS . YESTERDAY'S MATCHES By Telegraph—Prcpa Association. Napier, September 5. Aa a result of the day's play in the golf championships, Butters and Jl'Ewan are left in the final for the professionals, and Duncan and Crosse wi',l decide who is to be New Zealand's amateur champion. Following are the results of today's play:— Professional Championship, W. M'Ewan beat J. A. Clements 1 up. Play was very consistent throughout, thn competitors bains with bogey nil the time. At the fifteenth hole Clements was just off the edge of tho green with his eecowl. lie missed his third, Jl'Ewan winning tho liolo in 5, making him 2 up and 3 to play. Playing to the last holo both got good drives, and found the green with their seconds. M'Ewan's third was four feet from the hole, and Clements's 18 incises. M'Ew-an holed his putt, but Clements missed, losing the game 1 down. ft. C, .Butters beat J. Watt 1 up. I'lny was very moderate over the.first half.
