AN ULTIMATUM TO RUMANIA
ALLIES TAKE ACTION

The Allies havo decided to send, an ultimatum to Rumania, ordering her to comply -with their demands or to break off diplomatic relations. The "Echo de Pftris" slates that owing to Rumania not replying to the Allies' Notes, the Supreme Council is discussing rigorous measures. The "Petit Parisien" says Rumania refuses to sign "tho Austrian Treaty, o\v-. ing to two clauses which were introduced at tho instance of President Wilson. Ono concerns tho protection of ethnical and religious minorities; and the other relates to the Allies. regulating treaties regarding the. .commerce and railways which Rumania' might establish in tho future. The Rumanians resist external control-of their traffic and exports, and claim commercial independence in view of .the vast economic resources of the country.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. (Reo. September I, 8.30 p.m.) Paris, September 3. ■ Tho Supreme Council has sent oil ultimatum to Rumania owing to tho latter's. failure to reply to tho Notes protesting against tho pillaging of i Hungary. September 4, 9.10 p.m.) Co'penhagen, September 3. It is reported, from Vienna that there is extreme tension between Rumania and Serbia. The Rumanians have concentrated fourteen divisions in districts which the Peace. Treaty demands that the Serbians Shall evacuate. The concentration aims at forcing Rumania's demands regarding Bahat. Paris considers that the lliniairy follows right .lines. Mr, Hoover regards it as satisfactory. ilerr Friedricn's last .stpp on. vacating the Premiership was. to sign the ■terriblo armistice with Rumania, whose ■plundering continues.
