THE MINISTRY

ALLOCATION OF POBTFOLIOS. Tho redistribution of portfolios consequent on tlio appointment of new memDers to tho Ministry is now complete. The Kt. Hon. W. F. Massey, Priino Miuistei', retains Industries and Commerce, Labour and Electoral, and hfi takes Railways nnd tho Polico Force. Mr. Massey retains control of tlio Department of Imperial Government Supplies. Sir James Allen retains Defence, nnd takes in addition Finance, Stamp Duties, Land and Incomo Tax, State Guaranteed Advances Department. He will al6o retain War Pensions, which has always previously been considered part of tho Uefence Administration. Tho Hon. W. H. Ilerries retains Native Affairs, and takes in addition Cus l toms and Marine, Inspection of Machinery, Pensions, National Prpvident Fund, nnd bo will still bo chairman of tho Repatriation Board.

Sir William Fraser retains Publia Works, and tnlces also Mines, Roads,legislative Departments, and" Publio Buildings.

Sir Francis 801 l retains the offices of Attorney-General, Commissioner of Stata Forests, and Minister of Immigration, and he becomes also Minister of Education)' Public Health, Hospitals and Char- ' stable Aid, Mental Hospitals, and Valuation.

Tho Hon. D. H. Guthrio will take no new portfolios, but ho will keep Lands, Lands for Settlement, Soldiers' Land Settlement, and Scenery Preservation, the Hon. J.' B. Hine will be Minister of Internal Affairs, and ; will take also the .Departments of Friendly Societies, State Fire Insurance, Printing and Stationery.

The Hon. W. Nosworthy will be Minis, ter of Agriculture, and he will have charge also of the Department of Tourist and Health Resorts,

The Hon. J. G. Coates will be Minister of Justice and Postmaster-General,' and ho will.take charge of the Public Trust Office, and of the Government Life and Accent Insurance.
