LONG LIST OF COMPLICATED QUESTIONS
WORK FOR THE WHOLE WINTER
By Telegraph-Press Aesociation-Copyrig'.it Paris, September I. Wlion tho treaties with Hungary' and Turkey are settled the Peace Conference must determine the frontiers of some of the territories adjoining Russia; and treat with Russia with respect to them. Some sixty complicated questions connected •with the treaties still remain unsolved. Tho Conference has thus Buffieicnt work for the whole winter.—Aue.-N:Z. Cable Assn. ;' FRENCH CRITJcToTtBE TREATY ' "OPPOSITION ON ALL SIDES." , (Rec. September 2, 7.30 p.m.) London, September 1. The "Westminster Gazette's" Paris correspondent states that although the::e is no doubt that the French Parliament will accept the Peace Treaty, there is opposition on all sides. Una , section recommends ratification, but tho Treaty is considered as constituting a damaging blow at the methods and results of tho Peace Conference, as. there are already minor modifications of the' Treaty, such as the treatment of ■prisoners, tho policing of Upper Siiesia, the glower demobilisation or the German army, and more vital changes. There is a prospect that critics will protest against Frances territorial claims not being met, but the nebulous trains of the. reparation clausre, which shift authority to other bodus, leaving nearly everything to. the future, ali'ord the chief causo for. uneasmecs. The absence of an Allied pooling arrangement is causing regret, and tho shadov.-y provisions for tie financial .fujure are provoking alarm. Meanwhile the doctrinaire Socialists declare that tie Treaty is reactionary, harsh, and vindic-tive.—Aus.-N.Z. CaKe. Assn. . CANADA AND THE TREATY SPECIAL SESSION OF PARLIAMENT FOE RATIFICATION Ottawa, September.! Hie Governor-General, in opening a special session of Parliament, said that it had been cabled for the purpose of ratifying the. Treaty and to provide tho necessary funds in connection therewith. —A.US.-N.Z. Cable Aesn. .
