Dr. Lowe, formerly house surgeon, at the Wellington Hospital, 'returned (o Wellington this week from the Old Country. He was recently married at Home to Miss Winnie- Wilson, of Wellington, formerly a nurse in the Wellington Hospital who went (o England on military duty over a year aj;o.

Brigadier-General G. S. Richardson, Oflicer-in-Cjmrge of Administration, will leave Wellington on Monday on a visit to Wanganui. It is possible that ho will afterwards go oil to Waipuiurau to inspect the sanatorium there.

Inspector M'llveney, who was recently appointed Police Inspector for the Wellington district, appeared in the Magistrate's Court in his new capacity for the first time yesterday.

The Rev. W. A. Kcay, who was formerly assistant curate at St. Mark's, Wellington, has, owing to purely personal and private reasons, resigned his chargo of the parish of the Holy Sepulchre in Auckland, to which ho was appointed about two years ago. He will remain at St. Sepulchre's until the Bishop has found a suitablo successor.

With sincere regret the Wellington Cricket Association, in its annual report, records the death of the following gentlemen:—Dr. Ross (a vice-president for many'years, and one- of the association's most ardent'supporters); Mr. A. Bennett (a member of the Management Committee for a number of years, and a provincial representative); Mr. W. L. R. Gibbes (a provincial representative); Mr. E. C. Niven (a New Zealand and provincial representative); and Mr. C. E. Hiekey (a provincial representative/. The heartfelt sympathy of the association is extended to the relatives of the deceased gentlemen. The late Mr. Gibbes and Mr. Bennett were victims of the influenza epidemic. Mr. M. J. Reardon, secretary of the Wellington Freezing Workers' Union and the General Labourers' Union, has.been granted three months' leave of aixsence by these unions to enable him to take a' long sea trip. He will leavo for San Francisco by the Tofua on Friday next.

Mr. A. Gillies, who has been on a business trip to England and America, returned to Wellington last week.

Tho Press Association reports the death at Port Chalmers yesterday of Mr. T. C. Cordoak, foreman engineer at wo Union Steam Ship Company's 'repair works. Ho came to Port Chalmers from Auckland in 1914.

Mr. J. Morten, who has been , connected with the Cliristehurch telegraph engineer's branch as chief clerk far the last few years, was on Saturday presented with a travelling bag, as a mark of esteem, by the staff. The district engineer, in making the presentation, referred to Mr. Morton's faithful sarvicca and rapid progress in the department, and congratulated him on his promotion to relieving postmaster in the Canterbury district.
