The jiuroes reported 170 vieits paid to pa* tients during the month and 37 attended to fit the office. , Gifts hive been received from Mrs. lloorhouse, Mrs. Corrigan, p?r Mrs. Thompson,, Patoa M, llrs. .Willis, Mrs. Arthur Seed, Mrs. Helyer, Bed Cross Society, anonymous 3s. These consisted of eoups, puddings, eggs, sandwiches, oakos,. children's. and a ohild's olothes, old linen <md books. Old linen is still urgently needed and will ba gratefully received at 91, Ghuznco Street. The first annual ball of the Co-operative Distributing Company was held' last. evening at the Sydney Street Ball. It was given by the staff, and proved a,' most enjoyabki ■ occasipn. The hall was ,: decorated in ted, white''and blue with streamers from the ceiling, and the walls corered .with draped flags and festooned with lycopodrum and flowers. Dancing was continued until 1 o'clock, ami-•'amongst the ■ dances were two original ana spectacular ones which were designed'by Miss Hyde , and which well deserved tho applause- vrith which they were' greeted. A dainty. supper wae eerved in the gymnasium, .the tables having 'been decorated with spring . flowers. .. Shaded ligihte added to tie decorative effect- of the supper room. ,'A quiet wedding; took place in St. Miohaol'e. Church, Clirietchurch, on Thursday morning, August 38, when Archdeacon Ensor, assisted by the Rev. A. Hose, married Mr. AT. J. Hunter to Miss Francos Dalley. The brido wore a white Liborty satin frock, trimmed with seed pearls, with brocaded satin train. A net veil and tiny wreaths of oranjjo blossoms oompletofl the ooslume.
