A case concerning many of the iron trades of the Canterbury industrial district came before the Arbitration Court, v,-hen applications were made under the War Statutes Legislation Act for the reduction of hours of labour from fortyeeven per week to forty-four per wees, without any reduction of watffes; also for a now overtime clause providing for time and a balf being paid up to throe hours, and double time thereafter. After hearing the ovidence for and against the proposals the Court reserved its decision.
