The barqucntine Amy Turner arrived at Bluff from San Francisco on Saturday. Tho lighthouse tender Hincmoa is to leave Wellington at 4.30 p.m. to-day on her trip to the northern lighthouses. It. is expccted that she will be away about five weeks.

Tho Ngakuta, bound from Timaru to Sydney, via Greymouth, put into tho stream yesterday morning to pick up Mr. O. F. Turner, local manager of the Blackball Coal Company, who is proceeding to Sydney for about two months. Durtug Mr. Turner's absence the company's local affairs will'bo in charge of Captain W. J. Rogerß. Mr. 0. J. Anderson has Joined the Katoa as second officer.
For Lyttelton to undergo overhaul the Baden Powell is to leavo Wellington tomorrow. Mr. V. 11. Annandale, third mate of tho Katoa, has left tho vessel. For Dunedin direct, tho Stella is to leave Wellington to-morrow. Meßsrs. Johnston and Co. advised on Saturday that the Ripplo had been delayed at Napier by baa weather, and that her future movements for the time being were uncertain. ' • ' Tho Prinzessin left Apia on August 27 (where' sho had called in to put ashore the fourth, engineer, who was suffering from an acute attack of appendicitis) for Vancouver.
Captain F. Dihsmore, late master of the Kowhai, has resigned from tho Union Company's servico. The Patcena still -lies at the Onehunga wharf undergoing repairs. No dato for the resumption of. the OnehunEa-Welling-. ton sowieo can yet be given by the Union Company. Sixty-five days out from San Francisco tho four-masted schooner Caroline arrivod at Lyttelton on Thursday with a cargo of between 15,000 and ,16,000 cases of benzine for the Vacuum Oil Company, and a deck cargo of timber. Captain Petersen 'is in command. Tho Caroline was built in .1902 by Mr. H. K. Hall at Port Blakcley, Washington, for Messrs. Gardiner, Mill, and 00. Her prinoipal dimensions aro:—Length 163 ft., width 36ft-., depth 11.6 ft. A Union Company vessel will load cargo for New Zealand at Calcutta about the middle of November.
