Mr. E. W. Gibbs, manager of the Dunedin branch of the Bank of New Zealand, has been appointed auditor of the bank. He will succeed Mr. B. iU. Litchfield, who retires on September 30. As Press Association telegram from Duuedln states that it is understood thai Mr. A. 0. Matiieson, lately appointed an inspector, will succeed Mr. Gibbs as Dunedin manager of tho Bank of New Zealand, The death is announced by private cable messago of Mr. W. J." Luckie,' fourth son -of the late Mr. D. 51. Luckie, for many years Commissioner of the Government Life Insurance, and brother of Mr. M. F. Luckie, solicitor and city councillor, of Wellington. For some years deceased was engaged in mining pursuits tu Kalgoorlie and Coolgardie, and eventually went with the West Australian contingent to Uallipoli, wfoence'ho was invalided liack to Australia. He died at Weslonia, West Australia, where lie hud been engaged in farming. He was 47 years of age and, unmarried. The Rev. T. G. Brooke, general secretary of Homo Missions for tho Methodist Church, is at present in Wellington. Mr. F. C. Pascoe, a former purser of the Union Steam Ship Company, who recently returned from four and a-half years' active service, is cashier of tho company's Wellington office, having succeeded.' Mr. G. Signor Cappelli is the well-known lyric tenor whose voice was so much admired during the Gonsalez opera season. The Rov. Stephen ' Parr, M.C., has been appointed chaplain at Christ's Collego, Cnristchurch. Mr. Parr endeavoured to leavo with the. Now Zealand Expeditionary Force as a chaplain. As lie did not succeed, he enlisted as a private, but was promoted to a chaplaincy and was given a Military Cross on the field.
Mr. Gilbert Dalgleish. 8.A., for many years headmaster of the Tiinaru Main Primary School, has been appointed inspector of schools for the Nelson district.
The sudden death occurred at Greymouth on Saturday of Mr. Alfred H. Mollor. The deceased gentleman became ill on Saturday, morning and died in the afternoon. The late. Mr. Mellor was for some venrs in the Railway Department m Wellington, and was late)- transferred to Grevmouth, He is survived by his widow, ono'soii, and three daughters—Mrs. Lcn. Blundell, Miss Dorothy and Mary Mellor.
