MANAWATU.
Mr. A. Williams, who has been assist-ant-master at the Campbell Street School, 'Palmerston North, for '.ho past twelve months, but who is now severing his,<connection with the school to take up the position of organising teacher in the Hawke's Bay educational district, ' was farewelled yesterday morning. The' pupils of '.he .upper standards assembled in one of the classrooms, and Mr. Ryder, headmaster, called upoi the head prefect for the boys, Master George Dyke, and the head prefect for the girls, Miss Maggie Moatt, to make presentations to their departing teacher, which they did in appropriate fashion. Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Hudson and Mrs. Hudson, senr., who have resided at Linton for nearly twenty years, were tendered a surprise party on the eve of their departure from the district. A large number of friends were present, on behalf of whom Mr. Capel presented Mr. Hudson with a travelling-rug as a mark of esteem. At the meeting of the Foxton Harbour Board Mr. W. Bock, who has held the position of honorary secretary for soma time past, resigned, and Mr. P. D. Whibley was appointed secretary. At t}»e last meeting of /the Wanganui Education Board a' grant of for the Bainesse school was received from the Department. The school 'when erected will accommodate sixty pupils. Land continues to change hands in the Otaki district. Mr. D. Petham (Canterbury) has purchased Mr. E. M. ICorrick's farm at Levin, Mr. A. Guy (Palmerston), > who recently purchased the late Mr. .Tolm Davies's farm, has sold to Mr. Spence (Wairarapa), while' Mr. A'. Mark has sold to a Wellington resident. I
