The Industries Committee of tho House oi itepresenra'uvaj, wnicn Jias been sitting (luring the recess, has presented. its. report, in, lvhich'it makes the following remarks .regarding the' Meat Trust:— "'The.'belioi' is'general that the American M«it /Trust is already operating in tho Dominion, and 1 that it - trill not be long before, it spreads out its tentaoles to seize upon-our: frozen-meat industry. There is t no-difference: of opinion as; to the neces- ' eity for preventing the establishment of this monopoly, and-all.who'are interested int. the -freezing industry ' look to the 'Government to save them.from what they consider -would be a calamity. : The committee would urge that the utmost vijiknee Ire exercised by the Government as to -fho operations of meatbuying , firma in this country, so thai the American Meat Trust may be prevented from getting a strangle-hoid or one of our main industries.
