—0 HOUSE COMMITTEE'S FINDINGS, Tho report of the Industries Committee of the House of Kepresentatives deals with the coal industry. As the Board of Trade report overshadows the committee's work in thoroughness and importance. the committee's observations' may pass. But the committee reports 'as follows:— To remedy the evils and danger, to preserve tho Dominion's industries,' and to secure in tho immediate future the means for developmental activities, it is recommended by the committee— (1) That the coal measures of the Dominion bo nationalised, and that private-lv-owned mines and measures be, purchased by the Stafje at valuation/ (2) That a board of management and distribution under Ministerial authority be established, on which the workers enRafted in the industry shall be represented. A (3) That, there be set on foot at once h scheme which shall result in tho comfortable housing of tho miners and other workers concerned. M) That a superannuation sciinne on similar lines to that in operation in the Railway, service form part of tlie general scheme. (5) That the State own tiie necessary shipping for the carriage oi coal. DETAILS OF THE HUNTLY MEETING. By Association! Auckland, August 29. Confirmation has been obtained of the statement that the Iluntly- miners decided to "go slow" at a meeting held yesterday. It is understood two ballots were tnlcen, one en the question to strike and one on the question to "go slow." The strike proposal was rejected, and the proposal >o ' go slow" was carried by 270 votes to sliehtly over.. 70 against it. lii a report issued by the union to-daj :i& mention is made of- the above information, but it is statpd that the emplojeis' offer was unanimously refused. . The "Otago Daily Times" has been informed that the miners at TCaitaiigata were advised to-day to adopt the "goslow" policy from Monday next. It ie understood the proposal also affects the Wairio, Nightcaps, and Clvenn Island miners. The feeling among the Kaitangata miners appears'to be divided, and it is expected that some oE the men will follow tho advice and some disregard it,
