General Sir Andrew Russell was waiK' ed on by a deputation of Napier cili/.ens,. requesting him to stand for the Napier seat. ' He will reply' later. It is understood, says a Nelson paper, that the Hon.,R. M'Ken/.ie, ex-M.P. for JUituek>. will be a candidate for tho Motuekii' seat at the forthcoming election, Mr. R. Patterson, of Westport, is also mentioned as a probable candidate. Councillor C. H. Chapman has received n telegram from the Hastings Labour Representation Committee informing him that he has been selected as the Labour candidate for the Hawko's Bay seat at the general election.
