. _ Mr. William P- Gray, of the Tourist Department, who died in Wellington last Tuesday, was a son of the late Alexander .Gray, one of the pioneers of the Mana-. watu district. The funeral, which • took place at Kami on Thursday, was conducted by. the Rev. W. Fancourt, and was attended only by relatives au'J a few' personal friends. Amongst the many wreaths which covered the coffin were tributes from- the Maiiawatu Racing Club, of the deceased was formerly ■secretary, the Base liecords Office, and the Tourist Department. The late Mr. -Gray's only son, Sergeant Alex. Gray, M.M., who left New. Zealand with the Fifth Reinforcements, was killed in action iu April, 191& ' The Very Rev. Dean liinsfield, S.M., celebrated the diamond jubilee of his ordination (0 the. priesthood l (states a Press Association message from Napier). This rare event, which is. unique in. this country, was fittingly observed at Mount St. Mary's, Grecnmeadows. Dean Binsfield was the recipient of a cable message conveying congratulations and the Apostolic blessing of His Holiness Pope Benedict XV. .
