Union recent- . j2v held at Palmewton Sorth appointed a Select Committee to.draft a report and. \ mominate a commission to proceed to \ :Ensland. ..This committee has met,and passed" the following resolutions:— : v j "That a commission of one North Island representative, one South Island re- { jfresehtative, one representative of the 'farmers' freezing companies of New Zealand., and one Government official,' Dr.. ußeakes for preference, be nominated by jVthis committee, with the following schedule 1 of duties:— • ■ '■■■ ' ■ (1) To proceed.tp England to examine ■ conditions and make representations to the Imperial Cxovernment con- . cerning the New Zealand meat trade ; on the, following- lines: (a) That the Imperial Government be urged to. give Dominion meat priority of shipment • and preference of sale over American . meat purchased and still unsold by the Imperial Government; (b) that colonial meat be placed on the market at a price that will mean-neither profit nor' less to the Imperial authorities ; (c) that the shipping of the meat, if possible, be further expedited, and an assurance obtained from the British Government to this effect; (d) that the terms of Hie coni- -. niandeer..be amended so that on June. ' SO next the New Zealand freezing companies shall become agents of the , Imperial Government for the disposal l t of. our, meat through legitimate chan- "'• neis. subject • to the wishes of their • clients and the. provision of clause 1, "."e'ukclause.
