& ADMIRAL'S REPLY TO NAVY LEAGUE GREETINGS. The 'Wellington branch of the Navy League lias received from Admiral Viscount Jellicoe the following reply to a letter of welcome which the branoh forwarded to him: H.M.S. New Zealand, At Wellington, August 21, 1919. Gentlemen,—l beg to acknowledge the recoipt of your letter of August 19, in which, on behalf of the Wellington Navy League you extend ao warm a welcome to tho'o'fficers and men of H.M.S. New Zealand and myself. We are grateful for your reference to the work of the Royal Navy during the war to whioh yon allude in such words of appreciation, and which would be valued by the service at large. I am deeply sensible of tho good work for the Empire which is carried out by the Navy League—there is no greater service that its members can give than by inculcating in the minds of the young the incalculable importance of 'sea power" and what it means to every individual whether in the Old Country or in the overseas Dominions. Lady Jellicoe and I are most grateful for your good wishes,. and, are much looking forward to our visit to tho Dominion of New Zealand. I Shave the honour to be. Gentlemen, Yonr Obedient. The officers' Ru-jby football team is to play Victoria College on Kelburn Park at 3 i>.m. to-morrow. Tho BußOy team of H.M.S. New Zealand is said to be a fitrong one, and a fine game is anticipated if the weather holds fine. Friday of this week has been' reserved as "ship's day," on which day the officers will entertain eome of the many friends they have mr.de whilst in Wellington. '' ... On Monday evening a vory enjoyable time was' spent in Wesloy Church schoolroom, Taranaki Street, when eome ■ SO boys from H.M.S. Now Zealand and Amokura, together with members of, tho Methodist Young Women's Bible met fov a. social evening. The hall was gaily decorated with flags. by tho. Amokura boys. Games woro entered into with great delight by all present, and refreshments wero sewed at the close of a most enjoyable ovening. A vote of thanks to the Chnroh authorities was carried with great enthusiasm. In re. ply the Rev. J. G. Chapman expressed the pleaexiro it gave them to have contributed in any degree to the enjoyment of the boys. The proceedings closed with the National Anthem. Admiral Lord Jelliooe and staff are to visit the Amokura this morning.
