GIESSEN ARRIVES. From London, via Capo Town and Al bany, with a draft of returning troop; the ex-German steamer Giessen arrived ir the stream early this morning. To discharge a cargo of coal and to commenco Homeward loading, the ShawSavill steamer Waiwera is due at • Wei liugton on Thursday from Newcastle. Tha vossel is to load at Nelson, New Plymouth, Lyttelton, and Wellington for Home. PORT NAPIER FOR HOME. It is expected that Homeward loading on the Port Napier will be completed in time to permit of tho vessel sailing for Lon don, via Panama, on Saturday morning. THE MOKOIA. To-morrow evening the Mokoia, is tc leave. Auckland for Napier and Wellington, being due at Wellington on Saturday. In the evening tho vossel will procccd on tc Lyttelton and Dunedin. DUE FRIDAY. From San Francisco, via Papeete and Rarotonga, tho: R.M.S. Tofua is due al Wellington at daybreak on Friday. . The vessel is to be dispatched back to San Francisco on September 5. THI E. B. STERLING. Tho large six-masted barquentine E. E, Sterling, which is discharging a cargo ol coal at Auckland, will, on completion, load timber and general cargo for Sydney. Sho will then proceed to Newcastle to load coal for Auckland.. THE TALUNE. Tho Island steamer Talune arrived al Suva on Tuesday last from Auckland. She is due back at Suva on August 30, and should reach Auckland ou September 4. MESS-TABLE GOSSIP. Captain F. A. Norling, master of the Kahu, resumed duty yestorday after holiday leave, and Captain J. Lowry, temporary master, signed off. . Mr. SI.- JJayward, second officer of the Maori, signed off yesterday. Mr. G. Dalling, chief crislneer of the Komata, left the vessel yesterday, and his place was taken by Mr. J. Ritson. Mr. A. G. Kylo, second engincy of the Mapourika, signed off yesterday. Tho following steamers should bo within range of Awanui Wireless Station to-night: —Wairuna, Masula, Karamu, and Tofua. The Kittawa 1b to leavo to-day for Greymouth. To-morrow night tho Katoa is to sail for Westport. Tho Somerset is to leave Wellington tomorrow afternoon for Melbourne. Tho Komata left last night for Weßtport. Tho vossel will load back to Wellington. It is hoped to dispatch tho Putiki for south about Thursday. J The War Soldier is to leave Wellington for Newcastle at 2 p.m. to-day. The Hinemoa is to. leave on Friday for Jackson Head and The Brothers. Coal-laden from Newcastle, the Kauri arrived at Dunc*lin yesterday. Tho. Orari is to be dispatched for London, via Panama, about the end of this week. To-day at 5 p.m. the Rosamond is to be dispatched for Picton and New Plymouth, The vessel will receive Now Plymouth cargo to-day. Tho next P. and O. boat from Sydney will bo tho Karmala, on Saturday next. Messrs. Johnston and ,Qo. advise that the Ripple will receive no more- Gisborno cargo this week. Tho Ngahere was to have left Napier at 6 p.m. yesterday for Wellington; Afte: completion of discharge tho vessel will take cargo for' New Plymouth and Wanganui. The Woottou, which sailed laßt night lor Lyttelton, is to be slipped at the southern port, and will not return to Wellington till next week. The .Maua is due at Wellington on Friday from Nydia Bay, and in the evening will sail for Picton and Lyttelton. From Now Plymouth the Baden Powell is due to-morrow. Tho vessel is to be dis patched for Now Plymouth again in ta« eveniug. ' The brigautine Jeanctte was berthed at Taranaki Street Wharf yesterday to commenco tho discharge of her cargo of oils. Captain Petersen, master of tho Jeanette, reported having experienced fine weather on the trip down. It is the master's and also the vessel's first trip to Wellington, Tho barquentine Wahganui baa arrived at San Francisco from-Vavau. Sho loaded I cargo ot' copra at tho latter port. Messrs. Workman, Clark and Co. recently launched from their North Yard, Belfast, the model twiu-scrow steamship Port Caroline, for the Commonwealth and Dominion Co.'b colonial service. The vessel is 470 ft, and 44ft. broad, and of 8300 tons gross register, and of about 11,000 tons deadweight capacity.
