When a deputation of producers inter- | 'ested in the meat export trodo waited on i the Prime Minister some days ego, question. was raised ats to the amount of moat Lin store in the United Kingdom. Some iWmbore of the deputation had vnorma- ; tion that the amount .was much greater (than Mr. Massey led them to believe. .Information has now come to hand that 'the quantity of meat in cold storeß in 'the United Kingdom at present is 60,000 jtons. Besides this quantity of frozen meat there is a l'airly large quantity of bacon and other meats, such as rabbits and poultry. The total cold storage space in Britain is 200,000 tons. It is 'customary to speak of meat in freight carcasses in this country, and there are thirty-seven and one-third freight oarcasses. in a ton, 60 that 60,000_t0D3 of meat is equal to about two millions and B quarter freight carcasses. We have about three times this quantity of meat in cold stores in New Zealand to-day.
