SERIOUS CHARGES
By Teleerranh.—J'rp.-s Association. Gisborne, August 25. At the Magistrate's Court Joseph Crook appeared on remand charged witli carnally knowing « girl under the ;tge of ten years. A further charge was laid against , the accused of attempted carnal 1 knowledgo of another girl under the age of ton years. Mr. Burnard, who appeared for tho accused at tho previous sitting, withdrew from tho case. The Magistrate committed the accused for trial at the Supremo Court on the two charges.
