SCROLLS OF THE FALLEN
MEMORIAL PLAQUE FACTORY.
Following tho decision of the Government to issue ,a memorial platfue and scroll to the next-of-kin of those who fell in the war, the work of distributing t'ho scroll has begun (says the "Daily ilail"). Tho issue of the plaque at tho same time has not been found possible owing to tho necessity of building a special factory for its manufacture. The ecroll bears tho following, inscription:— "He whom this Scroll commemorates was numbered among those who, a.t tho call of King and Country, left all that Avas dear to them, endured hardness, faced danger, and finally passed out of tho sight of men by the path of duty and self-sacrifice, giving up, their own live 3 that others might live in freedom. Lot those who come after see to it that his name be not forgotten." This is followed by an inscription of t'ho soldier's name and regiment. The inscription is by a device including the Royal Arms in colour with tho initials of the King. The scrolls will be accompanicd by the following letter from Buckingham Palaco over tliv King's signature: "I join with my grateful people m sending you this memorial ot n, brave life given for others in the great war.
