WATER DIVINER'S FIND

FOUNTAIN-HEAD . T SEATOUN IN SCHOOL GROUNDS It will be remembered that a couple of months ago the services of a water diviner were secured by the Miramar Borough Council to locate subterranean sources of water that may bo of practical service to the borough. During those investigations, which entailed a tour of tlie district, the diviner indicated a spot from which the whole of the borough could be supplied with water with little trouble. The JJayor of Miriiriar (Mr C. E. Stone) informed a Dominion reporter that tho :eported source of water was located in the grounds of the new school at Seatoun, which is un the flat bfclween tho tramway tennius and the Seatoun Parado. Tho diviner stated that the supply was what he declared as a ''fountain head," and from it radiated in the form of a spider' 6 web niauy other subsidiary souices which could bo tapped if necessary. Negotiations had to be entered into with the Education Board before anything could be done in the way of sinking a bore. An understanding has now been arrived at, and the Borouga Council has sanctioned the expenditure Of .£lO on sinking a boro to take a small pipe. If that proves to be satisfactory, or, in other words, if the supply proves to be as bountiful as the diviner was convinced it was, a 12in. pipe will be sunk, and means taken to conserve a supply of water on the heights by means of pumping,, which should ho beneficial to the residents. It should be explained that at present the borough's water mains aro supplied by the citv at so much per thousand gallons, ana there is a special water rate —by no means a light one—in order to pay the city, and any other costs in connection ivith the reticulation of the borough.
