POWDERED NOSES

fho following letter appeared in "The Times" recently. "Sir-Now that air raidsare overhand London is light ngain at night, is there any need for young women to powder their liosos? This was useful then, ]iist ( M it was useful to paint the lamp posts white, but as it is no longer necessary, it is now n senseless disfigurement. Do not girls realise that one of their attractions is thn fair complexion which youth gives them ? Why. then, cover their faces with powder? 'Oh, my noso won d shine,' is the general excuse. Why should girls' noses shine more now than tlioy dirt a few years ago? A rub with a dry towel would remove any tendency to shine. It is a sad sight to me to see young girls powdered and oFd ones painted. Both are much mistaken if they think, as eonio of them say, .that it,is so well done :us not to be noticeable. It is just a silly and rather revolting fashion, and I wish that sensible women would nrotewt. Obviously I dare not sign my name.—l ani your obedient servant, A Father.

Townsend,/Kataitai. Owing to a recent bereavement in the bride's family tho ceremony was voiy quiet one. Mr. and Mra. : Pryor left for Palmerston, en route for their homo at Ballauce.
