THE GOVERNMENT'S PURCHASE. The Minister of Public Works (Sir William Fraser) stated Oil Saturday that particulars of tho arrangement made by tho Government for the purchase of the Waihi Mining Company hydro-electrio power station at Hora Hcr'a were not yet available for publication. The agreement had not yet been completed. The Hora Hora installation develops about 0000 horse-power. It was completed in 11)1-1, and the compa-ny Ims Ixjen gelling some surplus power in the district. Tho station is situated on tlio Waikato River at Hora Hora Rapids, near Cambridge. Sir William Praser mentioned that ho intended, to send officers at once into tho districts around Hora Hora to ascertain ■\yhat amount of power was likely to be purchased by ■ local . bodies and private consumers. Surveys would be made for transmission and reticulation lines. Tho Hora Hora station would eventually, form a part of the national hydro-elec-tric scheme.
