" The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile: ; Agency Co., Ltd., report that at/ their; Upper Hutt aalo on August 21 they offered a good yarding of* both sheep and cattle to a large attendance of buyers. They sold two-tooth wethers at 345. 9d.; m.s. hoggets, 255. 3d.; mixed-aso ewes, 325. Cd.; store cows, £6 15a. to £!) 55.; backward heifers, £8 55., to £9; springing heifers, 1 £10 195.; mixed-sex -weaner calves. £2 . ■; The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report having conducted a very successful clearing sale on account of Mr. James Bradley, faita. The stock was in backward condition, but under spirited competition everything was sold at satisfactory priies. Ihey quote:— Cotvs, just calved, £17 to £22; September calvers, £15, £17 10s. to £24 10a.: October calvers, £10 17s. ,6d„ £11 10s. to £12 10s.; .November calvers, £9 17s, 6d. to £11 10s.; springing heifers, £13; five-year folding, £24. They also sold, on account of other vendors:—Ooivs in milk, £15 5s : cows at drop, £13 to £16 155.; bacwara heifers, £8 2s. 6d.; two-year tuil, £7. The New Zealand Loan and' Jlercantilo Agency- Co., Ltd., report that on Monday last they held a clcariug salo of live and dead stock on account of Mr. A. P. Berry, of Waikanae, a large attendance of buyers being present. Cows wore in low condition, but sold freely at prices ranging from £14 to £18 10s.; cow arid calf, £6; small heifers, r.w.b., £6; weauor heifers, £2 10s.: fat cheep, 365. to £2 175.; aged light harness horse, £9 10s.; weaner pigs, 316. Furniture and sundries brought good market values. Dairy cows, sold on account of other vendors at £14 10s. to £20. . Tho Farmers' Auctioneering Co., Ltd., Hamilton, report that tho clearing sale held in conjunction ■with Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., on account of Mr. C. 0. Buckland, of tho Monavale herd of Fricsian cattle, the lots totalled 179, for which there was very keen competition, most of the best linos being purchased by buyers outside of tho Vaikato. _ The following aro some cf the top prices realised :—Monavale Madeline Paxton, 415gns. I'almemon North); Nethcrton Pontiac Prince, 190gns. (A. J. Kidd Waiuku); Monavale Maida do Koe, 170gns. (Neil Carter); Monavale Evergreen Paxton, ICOciia. (1!. Iteay. Morrinsville); Monavalo Nobiltje Veeman. 150gns. (A. J. Kidd, Waiuku). The average for the 179 lots was £66 19s. 6d.
