A MODEL EMPLOYER
Sir,—We beg space in your valuable paper to publish a resolution which was carried at a meeting of corporation employees, to contradict a statement by tlio Mayor, Mr. J', P, Luke, as reported in tlio Press of August 20, ro ' tho council paying its employees for wet days, and being a model employer—a statement which wo believe js a deliberate attempt to mislead tho public regarding corporation _ employees' conditions. The truo position is briefly_ this: 1. That corporation labourers do not got paid one penny, unless wo work all the time, in the cold and pouring rain. 2. We get a miserable dinner hour of 35 minutes; no pay if we are off work through sickness; no annual holiday if we remain in the council employ' for thirty years.
Thanking you, and trusting you wili publish same, a.nd let the public judge if the council is such a mode] employer as Mr. J. P. Luke would have them bolive, —We are, etc.,
CORPORATION EMPLOYEES. August 21.
