A DOUBLE COLLISION
TWO MOTOR-WAGONS AND A DRAY. A rather serious motor-vehicle smash occurred at tho junction of Cuba wid Glnizneo Streets shortly before 8.30 a.m. vestenlay. A. motor lorry belonging to Mr. Nicholas Fernandos, fish merchant, and driven by C. Olscn, was travellinrr down Cuba Street, and as a dray was crossing ahead at the intersection, tho lorrv was pulled up, the driver signailing with his hand for the guidance of any vehicles that might be following him down Cuba Street. 'An Army Service Corps motor-wagon, which happened to be following at a moderate pace, instead of pulling up, ran into the lorry witu sufficient force to drive Hie latter into tlie drav. with the result that the bonnets of both vehicles were considerably dama"ed and Olsen sustained severe injury to one of his legs. An eye-witness of he occurrence stated that the driver of the Defence Department's wagon (Corporal Bannister) seemed to take in the situation. and applied the brakes which did not appear to acl. Whilst (he moloi vehicles were being inspected, the drav, which w's uninjured, resumed its journey.
