YACHTING
PIIOPOSED NEW CLUBHOUSE. A general meeting of the Port Nicholson Yacht Club was held at. tho boat harbour last evening, Mr. AY. Duncan (commodore) presiding.
The principal business dealt with was tho consideration of tho clubhouse proposal. For Rome time past the club has been moving in the matter of raising funds to erect a clubhouse, and a site on tho "hard" in tho boat harbour, near the I'e Aro Baths, was offered by the Harbour Buard. Plans were submitted for a suitable .building and subscriptions totalling <£250 were received for the purpose of building the clubhouse for which plans were submitted. Since this action was taken, other proposals were submitted, and the rear commodore (Mr. B. Clarke) stated that he had been in communication with tho Harbour Board and had ascertained that a more suitable site was available for the erection of a clubhouse. This site was at. the western end of the boat harbour. He advocated that the question should be more fully pone into with a view to ascertaining whether the club was prepared to accept the new site and go in for the erection of a more suitable clubhouse.
The following motion was moved by Mr. Clarke: "That the. meeting st.md adjourned for three weeks in order that the position be fully considered." This was seconded by Mr. C. Beaumont and tho discussion which followed favoured tho idea of tho suggested clubhouse at tho western end of tho boat harbour, and it was generally conceded that they should have a elubhouso worthy of (he club.
Mr. Barnes ofFered to draw up fresh plans for a clubhouse at, the western end of the harbour, and also agreed that that site was by far the best. The motion was carried.
