RIOTS IN UPPER SILESIA
A REQUEST TO THE ALLIES By Telegraph-Press Asßocieition-CoDjTleM (Rec. August 20, S.-10 p.m.) London, August 18. The strike movement in Upper Silesia is spreading. Ninety per cent, of the workmen aro idle. Riots have broken out. The men's demand includo the abolition of the state of siege, and the reopening of the frontiers to prevent famine.
An Allied military occupation is probable as the Supreme Council has asked the leaders to take steps to remedy the instability of the situation.—Renter. .
POLISH REVOLTS SPREADING. (Rec. August 20, ,11.25 p.m.) Copenhagen, August 19. The Polish revolts in Upper Silesia are spreading. The "Lokalanzelger" attributes them to a fear of the result of the forthcoming vote on the territory's future. The troops havo occupied all the mines to prevent sabotage.
