THE RAILWAY RESTRICTIONS
AUCICIiAND SCHOOL BOARDERS SERIOUSLY AEFECTED.

The Auckland grammar schools are seriously affected as ft result of the lvaiiway Department's refusal to carry scholars home for tho school vacation. The principal of the Girls Grammar School states that despite representations made to the Minister, 110 further conflideration had tan extended to boarders. Efforts arc, however, being made to Ret tho girls home bv private conveyance The numbers delayed in Auckland are being reduced daily. About, thirty permits would be required to pet tho remaining girls home. The boys are going homo by devious routes, motor-ears beinff used where possible.
INTENSE RESENTMENT IN CHRISTCHURCH.
Christchurch, August 20. The following telegram was forwards! to the Prime Minister this afternoon by Mr. L. M. Isitt, M.P.: "Tlunk some of the railway restrictions absolutely unreasonable. Resentment here over refusal to take school boarders home is intense. One of our Methodist preachers was ftftisecl a passage to allow bun to tnJte a Sunday appointment. Had he been a beer barred ho would have been carried.
