THE PICTURE PETITION
Sir—l beg to trespass on'your valuable space for a few lines in .order t4 voice my disapproval. of the so-called petition that one is asked to sign at tho picture theatres. I trust that the picture-lov-ing public will refrain from, signing this petition as a mark of disapproval of the way th 9 picture theatres exploit the public. Each and every time a-• picture that will be at all popular comes our way, up go the prices. Not loug ago wo could visit any picturo show, for sixpence, now the price is 2s. 7d. (for a decent seat), and evidently the limit is not reached yet. Now is the people's chanoe to get a bit of their own .back/ After all, the pictures should be an entertainment at a reasonablo price, and if the prices are to remain at the present extortionate rates, then I will gladly sign a petition to close the picture theatres, and the power arid coal so saved would help in a measure to re. lieve the restricted train service. * Why cannot our council start municipal pictures at reasonable priccs—say, fid. and Is. ? the Town Hall was used for this purpose, it would soon have the effect of bringing the other picture managers into line, and also be a source of revenue to the city.—l am, etc. • VICTIM.
