WORLD WHEAT SHORTAGE
AN OFFICIAL STATEMENT.
London, August 18. Mr. C. A. M'Curfly (Paiiiamenfcary Secretary to the War Office), in an interview, said that an enormous, surplus in the world's supply of wheat did not exist. Its supposed existence was due to miscalculations. Therefore the pries would remain high, it would be several years before the production of Central Europe would reach the pre-war ecale> The lack of fertilisers had exhausted tthd land. Eussia's contribution to tho world's 'supply, would be negligible.—Aua-N.Z,-Cable Assn. ■ . i
