RECRUDESCENCE OF CRIME IN COUNTY CLARE POLICEMEN KILLED By TelesraDh-Presa Association-Gopyrishl (Rec. August 17, 5.5 p.m.) London, August li. An official memorandum reviews the recrudescence of crime in County Clare since January. It describes a determined attack on July 20 on a police liuti at Inch. Threo boinb3 were thrown and the windows of tho hut riddled with bullets. Four constables who were within the. hut returned the fire and beat oil the assailants. A similar attack was made on a hut at Connolly, the conflict lasting an hour. Armed men ,, attacked the Broadford barracks on August 3 and fired two hundred fchots, greatly damaging the building. One constable was wounded. Six or seven disguised men on August 5 entered the barracks at Newmarket-on-Fergus, bound the police with ropes, seized carbines, revolvers and ammunition, and departed in three motor-care. A sergeant and a constable returning to Illanbawn on August '1 were held up by armed men, who killed tho constable outright. The eergeant died of wounds,—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. Cable Assn." ■ London, August 15., The authorities anticipating grave disorders in Londonderry, the military prohibited a Nationalist and Sinn Fein Lady Day demonstration, which was to inolude a procession round the walls of the town. Troops for the first time since the siege of Derry occupied these walls. Orangemen and other Unioniats had expressed a determination to prevent anyone using tho walls for an antiBritiflh parado.-Aus.-N.Z. Cable Aesn. police raidTnlounty cork SINN FEINERS ARRESTED AND AMMUNITION SEIZED. (Rec. August 17, 5.5 p.m.) London, August 11. Two hundred police and military raided a mansion at Glandqre, County Cork, arrested four Sinn Feiners, seized & quantity, of ammunition and Sinn Fein volunteer equipment, hauled down the Sinn Fein flag and hoisted. the Union Jack. Thirty armed men on August 8 attaoked a hut at Moynoe. The attacks are a furtherance of the avowed Sinn Fein policy to overthrow constitutional Government in Ireland. Tho Government has decided to suppress the Sinn Fein and kindred bodies in the county as unlawful associations.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assi). August 7, 5.5 p.m.) London, August If The Government suppression bf Sinn Fein follows the Roman Catholic Bishop of Galway's and also tho Dublin corporation's denunciations of the campaign of terrorism and murder. Tho Government enumerates outrages beginning in 1917, lapsing for a considerable period owing to the wider and sternest military rulo in 1918, but virulently reviving in 1919. Armed bands have 6ince attacked the police on niuo occasions. Many other crimes 'have been committed.—"Tho Times." ,
