Alajor W. C. At a representative gathering held in the Ga.s Company's workshop, Catuhridge Terrace, (he presentation of a salad bowl and set of safety razors was made to Mr. W. J. lloverd by the employees, of tho company on the eve of his retirement to take up a position with tho Wellington City Corporation. Mr, Parsons made tho presentation. Mr. Hoverd, in replying, referred to the happy feeling existing in the ranks of the employees of the company, and laid stress upon the efforts the management had always made to promote the interests and harmony of their employees.
On leaving the Pohiatiia, district to take up to-morrow his new duties as headmaster of the Khandallnh Schcol, Mr. John Bragins, who has for several years been in charge of the Mangamuhi School, wae entertained by tho residents of the district ond also by the members of the Pahiatua Bowling Club, of which he has been a highly officient secretary. After the business at the annual meeting Mr. Brapins was regretfully ffirewelled, many valedictory tyrbutes testifying to the club's appreciation of it;i departing secretary's skill as a bowler, as shown by his irophie*. and popularity as a club' official.
