Tho telegram stated that tlie victims wer« two, old Maori people,..a woman, Meare* a lift Takemoana, being shot" dead, ana her husband,' Kemaera Haratua. receivin« one bullet in the breast and two in the left arm. • The old man, w!ho harf been removed to the hospital, stated that at dusk on Thursday evening the barking of his dogs caused .bim to run outside, but' a strange 'Maori, who was: coming down the hill towards the hut, in j stnullv shot"at him and wounded bim. Tho woman; then came out of the hus and was shot dead.
