HONOURS FOR FOUR BROTHERS
At. a recent investiture held by the King, Mrs. Smith, widow of the Jate Lieutenant 'Archibald Smith, Tt.N.T!-., had the honour of being received by the King At Buckingham Palace a.nd presented with the. V.C., posthumously awarded to her husband for having successfully fought and severely damaged . the■ Gorman raider Mtfewe. In the action. however, he lost his life. Iho .King expressed his sympathy with the widow.'aJid hi.* sorrow at the loss of such a gallant man. whose brave action he said would go down in history. Another interesting feature of thp > investiture was the attendance of loinbrothers, a.nd although they appeared in different, parts of the list, the King considerately. gave instructions that they should be presented together. IJio brothers were Lieutenant. Henry Lake... R.M., who received both the D.S.O. ana the D.S.G.: Major Ronald Lake, of the North-amotonshirs Regiment-, who re. ceived the P. 5.0.; (Japtam Basil TAty of tho King's. Own Scottish Borderers, who a.lso received-.the D.5.0., and J.;"*"" tenant, Harold Lake, late ot the I oldstream Guards, who. received the .Military Cross.
