The- doutli occurred on Wednesday morning at her residence, "Carvigai'oyle," Tho Terrace, of Mrs. O'Connor, wife of Mr. Robert O'Connor, one of Wellington's best known citizens for tho past 55 years. Tho late Mrs. O'Connor, who had. been ailing for some time, passed peacefully away, and has- left behind her the memory of one who gave to and helped worthy causes in a quiet unobtrusivo fashion which bespoke a human sympathy that did not seek recognition, fiorn in Wellington 71 years ago, Mrs. O'Connor was tho eldest daughter of tho late Hon. John Martin, M.L.C., and a Bister of tho Messrs. Martin, of Martinborough, and of tho late Dr. Albert Martin, of Wellington. She Jias left two daughters, Mrs. J. G. Hughes and Miss Eily do Vero O'Connor, and one son, Mr. Albert Creagll O'Connor, for whom, with their father, Mr. Robert O'Connor, sincorest sympathy is felt. Wellington College Old Girls' Association Dance, ■Another dance which has been revived is that of the Wellington College Old Girls' Association, which was held last evening in the Sydney Street Schoolroom. A large number of dancers were present, many of whom were naturally cxCollcgo girls. It would seem as though one of tho great needs of tho city is that of a larger hall for dances, as apart from the Town Hall no placo appears to be large enough to accommodate with any degree of comfort tho large number of people who are going to dances now. Othor needs, (being what they ore, however, it is likely to be passed over for a while at any rate. Tho decorations of tlio hall were very charming, the outstanding colour scheme, apart from flags, being the College colours of black and gold, which draped tho walls in double festoons, alternating with branches of trco ferns and other foliage. From tho ceiling wore suspended numbers of small flags, which Miss Mac Lean had brought back with her • from America, their taiety of colouring being added to by tho'streamers, which had been carried from the central gasolier to tho sides of the room. The stage had been draped anil furnished for tho chaperons. An additionally pretty touch was given to tho hall by baskets filled with lycopodium which had been suspended from tho ceiling. The decorations were entirely tho work of the committeo and members of tho association. Tho chaperons included Miss Mao Lean (principal of' the- College), who was wearing black charmeuse, veiled with net, and relieved with touches of deep blue; Mrs. Dawson (president of the association), Mrs. Pope, Mrs. WillMieks, Mrs. Martin, and Mrs. Cornisb. The committee responsible for tho arrangements included the Misses M. Willcycks, who was wiring ercamsalin and lace; Miss Pope, in black crepe do chine; Miss Martin, vieux rose niiion and gold tissue; Alias Mouciielf, caxe Wilis tafi'elafi; Miss Siuhorlnnd, yellow satin, tvith net overdress; Miss Forsyth, whito satin; Miss Grant, pale blue charnie.uso; Miss Poutawera, cream net-, Miss Flux, lemon coloured frock, with old rose lunic; Miss Anyon, apricot net, with touches of blue; and Miss Clark, bluo floral ninon. The secretary was Miss Willcncks. .Among the ineiiiliers of the stall' who were present were Miss Jlatham, Miss- Balhngur, and Miss Grant. The supper room had nl>o been prettily decorated, and the tables were arranged with spring flowers.
