POLICY SPEECH
NEW SOUTH WALES PROGRAMME OUTLINED. Sydney, August 13. Speaking at Lismore, Mr. W. A. Holmn.il (Premier of New South Wales) outlined the Government's policy. It includes the introduction ol' thq Whitloy Councils system, mid the principle of co-partnership in large concerns is to 1)0 established.
With regard to the liquor question, the Government will 'takq a referendum on the question of Prohibition with compensation, the result to be .determined by a bare majority; and a commission is previously to determine- the amount oi' compensation. Six o'clock closing is to continue in the meantime.
Unemployment insurance is to bo available to every workman, and preference is to be qiven in a.ll employment to returned soldiers.
The Government was determined, Mr. Holinan said, to stop profiteering, and would not allow t|\e growth of monopolies in any direction. Ho stated that it was the definite policy of the Government to giv.o preference to locally-made articles.
Tho Premier also .Announced tho Government's health policy, which includes tho establishment, of maternity hospitals and rest homes. He concluded by outlining, the afforestation, decentra.liea.tion, and hydro-slectric scheme.—Press Assn.
