By ; Tcleffraph—Press Association, < I Ghristchurch, August 13. 'The annual meeting of the i\ T ew Zea-' land Shorthorn Cattlo-Breeders' Association was held to-day, Mr. E. E. Alexander presiding. The aniinal.report stated that the membership of the association totalled 160. Mr. Alexander was reelected president, and Mr. John Deans (South Island), and Mr.. H. Gascoyne (North Island) wore re-elected members of ■the-council. It was decided that after July 1, 1919, breedors must tattoo or firebrand all animals, -used for breeding ■purposes;. and that the tattoo or firebrand bo included in tho pedigree and ■breeding returns. Shields for competition in 1919 were allocated as follow:— North Island: Masterton, Feildhig, 'Hawke's Bay, Auckland, and Hawera. South Island , - Christclmrch, Dunedin, In'verciirgijlv Ashbur'ton nnd Gore. / It was 'decided tliat it be a recommendation , to "tlle'Gbvern'melit; that breeding cattlo'submitted- for public sale should bo tested as , to their soundness. !
