KARORI BOROUGH AFFAIRS
MEETING OP TtfJi COUNCIL.
The. Mayor (Mr. B. G. H. Burn), presided over tho fortnightly meeting of tllio Karori Borough Council, heid lost evening. There wero.. present: Councillors J. Cuughley, L. G. Porter, T. A. Munt, J. W. Henderson, J. C. Fulton, 11. L. Tingey, 13. Harrison, and J. Bums.
Messrs. Young, Ncave, an<l Courtcnay wrote claiming JC9S as damages on account of an accident to a motorlorry white crossing a bridgo under tho control of tho borough. Tho letter was referred to tho borough solicitors. A letter was. received from tho Now Zealand Automobile Union suggesting that the approaches to nil bridges be painted white, and that whero necessary hoards painted whito bo erected on each bridge, and that similar precautions, be token, in regard to "rabbit" gates. The Mayor remarked that when tho bridges were being repainted effect oould bo given to tho suggestion.
In accordance with notice of motion, Councillor Burns moved: "That with a viow to forwards' n,',' the preliminary work of supplying water and drainago to tho borough, a committee consisting of His Worship tho Mayor, Councillors Tingey, Munt, Porter, and the mover bo set up to report on the various plans and rejwrls submitted at intervals to tho council by tho borough engineer and others in respect to water and drainage, and further to ndviso the council iis to tho best means.of expedition. This was carried after a short discussion.
