EFFECT OF CONSUMERS' LEAGUES

Leagues of •consumers are actively controlling prices in each district, visit markets and shops, compare the prices with those in the central markets, and warn shopkeepers if they aro overcharging that unless they reduce prices they will report them to tho police. The prices of food sometimes fall 40 per cent. Demobilised soldiers are also starting cooperative buying associations for food, clothiug, and household requirements.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
