ANNUAL MEETING. .'By- 1 Telograpli.—Special Correspondent,' Masterton, August 10. Tho annual meeting of the Masterton Jc. and P. Association was held at. Masterton 'on Saturday, Mr. C. ]?. Vallanco presiding-. Messrs. Gawith and Logan, solicitors, wrote stating that' as tlio ballot papers far the election, of the committee Jxad not been distributed to members so as to allow thq specified time before tlio, annual'meeting, tlio clccfcion of a committee would hare to bo postponed. Tlii« was according to the rules of tho association, and the election was jiostponed until August 16, but it was decided to discuss tho goneral business. Tho Feilding Earners' Freezing Company forwarded a letter containing the following resolution passed by the oom.pany and "asking support of the A. and ■K''Association in the matter: "That in ,v(ew.,of the serious position likely to arise' at the conclusion of tho Imperial oommandecr of Now Zealand meat set out in the statement prepared by Mr. W. J. Poison, tho co-operation of tho farmers' ' freezing companies in New Zealand is earnestly requested to bring pressruro to bear on the Government set up a commission of expert producers, familiar with the meat business (from both tho farmers' and the freezing companies' point of view) and the position at Homo, and if possible to arrange for future distribution of our meat, and, furthor, to endeavour to induce the English authorities to placo our meat on the moiket withdut profit or loss to tho Imperial Government." Mr. J. C. Cooper, chairman of directors of. tho Wellington Fanners' Moat Company, explained tlio purport of tlio resolution to those present, 'after which it was agreed to receive the letter. Tho following officers wero elected to fill vacancies due to retirements, ete.; Mr. J. Strang Gladstone, patron; Mr. vV. Perry, president; Captain M'iCillop, vice-president; Mr. A. T. Spain, treas- , urer; Mr. J. B. Keith, auditor. ilr. J. M'Gregor complained that insufficient catalogues w-are printed for the annual Tain fair. Ho had been unable \to obtain one on different occasions, and though ho did not blamo tho Bam Fair Committee tho matter required looking into a Mr. A. T. Spain, chairman of tho associated auctioneers, said that the auctioneers had noticed for sonio time past that there wea-o not enough catalogues to, go round. Moro should bo printed. It was decided to remedy tho matter as ' suggested. On the motion of Mr. G. C. Sum•merell, seconded by Mr. J. M'Gregor,- a vbto of thanks was passed to the retiring officers. After tho meeting a collection was taken up which amounted to i£B* This sum will bo devoted to tho purpose of furnishing a railway social hall.
