WHAT THE COUNTRY NEEDS
A STRONG GOVERNMENT VIEWS OF PRIME MINISTER Some of his views as to the kind ol Government this country requires in iha next few years, and as to 'how such a< Government can be formed, were giveil to a reporter on Saturday by the Prime M "m? tcr (l: ! 10 Kl & ht u<m - W. F. Massey). The policy of the country must be a policy of progress," said Mr. Massey. To carry out a viperous policy of reconstruction and development in a timd like the present, tlie.ro must be a strong Government. There must be a Government that will place the interests of tlio country before party and every other consideration. What is wanted, and what the country must have if it is to prosper, is a solid combination of patriotic, progressive, and practical members of Par* liamerit conscientiously representing tha people in a desire for national progress— a combination of earnest men whose democratic instincts, honesty, and ability can be relied upon, whose first duty will be national reconstruction and repatriation, and who will not allow themselves to be influenced bv party shibboleths of. party privileges. _ I do not look for pen fection in politicians any more.than i/i any other clasi, but the times are so serious and the outlook so uncertain that a much greater responsibility than ever before rests upon the electors to see that the men to whom they en f rust the management of their public affairs will in all tests and circumstances unfiinchnigly do their duty, and thus do justice and credit to the positions they are .intended to occupy."
