NEW TRAM FARES

TO OPERATE FEOM THIS MORNING. The new tramway fares adopted by the City Council at last Thursday's meeting are to come into operation this morning Publicity has been given to the (lis-' covery of an alleged anomaly by Councillor J. Hutchison (who is the secretary of the Tramways Union). That authority alleges that the white concession ticket gives twelve twoponny rides for Is. 3d., whereas the blue concession ticket gives only 14 rides for 2s. Gd., and points out that the people only have to buy the white tickets to ride at the lower rate. Councillor Hutchison is out in his calculation?. The white ticket now being issued for Is. 3d. simply displaces the old shilling card (twelve onesection rides for Is.). Now the price of the ticket is Is. 3d., and still only entitles the holder to. twelve one-soction --not two-section—rides.
