I Taking the total revenue per car mile, the amount registered in 1913-14 was j Is. 4ld. In 1914-15 this had receded to | slightly under Is. id., when a gradual rise took place up to 1916-17, _ when it readied just under Is -lid. again, then it advanced more rapidly, until in 191<-lh it stood at a fraction over Is. aM., and hy the end of 1918-19 (in March Jast) it i eiiinbed to a shade over la- (id. per car mile. As against this, tho total; expenditure per car mile is shown at a glance. It commenced in 1913-14 at Is. 4id., and decreased sharply during the ensuing year to a fraction under Is. 2Jd. from that year it advanced steadily upward until at the present time the total expenditure per car mile is shown as Is. 61d.,"M>r id. per. car mile' in excess of the total revenue. ~ ~ On a lower position on (he same blue* print, the percentage, of working expendi- | tare to revenue, and the working expenses per car mile, are shown, the , former commenced at !>'C per cent, in 1913-14, dropped to 63 per cent, in 1915-16, and then rose sharply to 75' per cent, in 1918-11). ~ '. The working expenses per car mile in 1913-14 stood at IOJd., ami a steady decrease was recorded until 1915 r 16, when it was lflid. From-that time the working expenses (coal, material, and wages) rose steadily until the figure is now Is. i 1 S-sd. per car mile. |
