BRICK WALL COLLAPSES
IN COURTENAY PLACE.
It is not very often that a brick wall of a building collapses without warning? but this occurred at tile rear of the building until recently occupiod by James Godber, Ltd., in Courtenay Place. Tho building stands back in tho yajd, and its two stories aro occupied by Pago and Co. (garage), M. Mantnel (electrician), .and AY. Tustin (organ builder). Tho building extends east and west at tho end of tho right-of-way next to Godber's, and it was tho western end wall (about 20ft. in width Mid two stories in height) that collapsed. The fait of tho wall is said to have been caused by excavations that are being madei for «. new building on tho section adjoining (which has a frontage to Alpha Street). Tho property so dfi&agcd belongs to Air, E. Godwin, of Wanganui (who is also the owner of tho Godber block in front). Fortunately no one was hurt by the accident, though there wero' workmen in the vicinity. The damaged building has been mvalled tern, porarily with timber.
