END OF THE WAR
OFFICIAL DATE TO BE FIXED. Some uncertainty exists still regarding the date of the official termination of the war. 'Die point is important owing to the fact that some legislation and certain industrial agreements are to expire after tho lapse of fixed periods from the "termination of the war." The Acting Prime Minister (Sir James Allen) stated yesterday that the point was covered by a clause of the Statu,ta 1 Law Amendment Act, passed by Parliament last session. The date of the closing of the war is to be deemed to be a date proclaimed for that purpose by the Government through the Gazette. No proclamation has yet been issued. Sir James Allen stated that the New Zenland Government would not proclaim 'a date until the Imperial Government had issued a similar proclamation in the 4 United Kingdom.
