In the streets, on trains, trams, and lorries, one observes a great number of young girls. -ITit realised that many ot them have left their homes, parents and friends, to earn a living in the city? Whilst away from the influence of her homo and parents a girl must ho cared for ami given every comfort, besides being safeguarded against tho temptations of the city to which she might easily vield. The Y.W.C.A. provides every 'comfort possible for girls, in the form of hostels, rest and club rooms, literary circles, evening educational classes, ;iim physical culture classes, besides endeavouring to uplift i |fi . members spiritually and morally. The Y.W.C.A. urgently needs .£15,000 In extend its activities in Wellington. It is hoped that all cilizcns -will see Hint an institution whose work is lo care for, uplift, and comfort the girl of the eilv, will be given every support to "carry on" with its noble activities.
