Senator Milieu has received a letter from tho President of the Seamen's Federation, stating that a settlement would bo".arranged if four cardinal'points in tho claims were conceded, if Walsh wero released, and if a conference 'wore summoned immediately to consider the other .claims. The letter concluded that any alternative proposals by the Government would be considered. Senator Milieu replied, that as it was clear that tho seamen rejected the terms approved by tho Inter-State, Conference, tho' Government would not submit any alternative proposals.—Press Assu.
