« POSITION OF UTMOST GRAVITY (By Telegraph-Press Association-Copyright London, August 3. The Supreme Economic Council mot in London during the week-end. The Council viewed the European coal position with tho utmost gravity. Production has fallen dangerously low, and it is impossible to decrease the consumption sufficiently to meet the deficit owing to the essential minimum requirements. 'The only remedy is to increase production and improve the distributive organisation. The latest estimate of the British output is 180 million tons, which is not sufficient for tho internal consumption. Italy's prospects aro considered grave, in view of tho cessation of British ex-ports.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
