WOMEN IN PARLIAMENT

By Telegraph—Press Association. ' Auckland, August (I. Tho desirability of an nmendment to tho law to enable women to fib in Parliament was urged upon Sir Josenh Ward by a deputation representing the National Council of Women and its affiliated sooietics.

Sir Joseph Ward, replying, said that he was in favour of the demands of tho deputation. He regarded such a measure as being one of impc-rlance, which should already be upon the Statute Book. He mentioned that at the Imperial Conference in 1007 he introduced a motion affirming that women should be given the right to practise law. This was universally opposed, but Britain had . since granted that right. If thoro were no other reasons why tho request should be granted, tho services rendered Ijy wemen during the war alone woidd suffice. He hoped the matter would bo sot right next session.
